Sucreabeille Perfumes - February

Attempted Murder

A misty forest thick with oakmoss and the scent of bonfires. Cypress, suede, and osmanthus.

I know, shocking; this is how I start my month! Anyway. This smells... biscuitty, but luckily the note fades on the wrist and a strong forest scent dominates. Very nice.

I'd give it 2.5 stars of 5, and note that I had to wash it off my right wrist, the skin there being rather sensitive.

Cream Tea

A warm mug of creamy, frothy, caffeine-injected tea. A blend of chai tea, burnt sugar, white musk, warm milk, and hot scones slathered with raspberry jam and honey.

This appealed to my curiosity and... okay, I'm biased in favour of scones. As for the perfume, this is wow on the skin. Raspberry jam (and it smells exactly like JAM, how do they do it?) flares up briefly, and I can smell black tea, but overall this is delightful perfume.

Would I 10ml it? Maybe. I wish they still sold drams, because this is the sort of scent I'd wear when I'm in the mood for it, and a 10ml is a bit much for that. Cream Tea gets a 4 of 5 from me.

Portmanteau

Rich vanillas infused with cream.

A compulsively sniffable scent, surprisingly complex and with a rich creaminess I'd kill to spread on a pancake with some strawberry jam. Not for me, though; my right wrist is irritated and one of the dominant notes is... not my favourite of the vanillas. Miss Lilith has decided that this scent is also not for her, but she's a cat.

This perfume has been discontinued, so I couldn't 10ml it even if I wanted to! Giving this 2 stars... that's 1.5 normally and .5 because I couldn't stop sniffing.

The Librarian

A library full of all the books in the world. The Librarian takes notes and catalogues while sipping a large mug of hot buttered rum laced with espresso. A whisper of patchouli follows her through the stacks.

Another wonderful extra from Sucreabeille! This would make a perfect candle or room spray. I swear it smelt of hazelnut cappuccino on application, but on my wrist, this is the lovely, slightly nutty coffee I adore, with the rum and butterscotch notes gently fading into the background over time.

(The coffee note reminds me of BPAL's Miskatonic University, and that's weirdly fitting. This is exactly the kind of scent I'd hoped MU would be, but that came out harsh and woody on me; The Librarian is a gentler, warmer scent and sod what Miss Lilith thinks, I like The Librarian better!)

I'll rate this an easy 3.5 stars, but would I 10ml it? Hmm... but would dram it for sure.

Sea Hag

Cool rain on the fierce ocean. Petrichor, sour limes, and sweet oranges.

The final of my three generous extras and the one I was eyeing off for future purchase! Sometimes you need a good aquatic, and oh boy does this provide. Salty sea air! Lots of salty sea air! This is a strong perfume with great throw, and the salt is mighty, though it gradually gives way to petrichor.

This would be perfect for wearing while curling up on the couch watching your favourite ship-bound movie. Or drinking a cocktail garnished with a slice of lime and with salt around the edges. Personally, I'm re-listening to the SS Utopia part of the The Blood Crow Stories. "Thoughts?" "Oh, don't worry, you'll get the hang of thoughts."

4 stars, maybe 4.5, and this enters the tiny pool of aquatic scents I'm happy to drool over.

Autumn Ashes

Smoky firewood, fresh figs and ripe kumquats, pepper and ginger, a whiff of coal.

I got a big burst of bubblegum when I first applied this, followed by blood orange and smoke, which is weird because the first two aren't listed as notes. On drydown, it gets more complex.

Googled it, and the blood orange note was kumquat... and my skin amps it. Otherwise, this smells like a big pile of dying autumn leaves, just what I wanted (yes, I'm weird).

Would I 10ml it? It's discontinued! Anyway I give this 1 star, and a warning to myself about kumquat.
