Sucreabeille Perfumes - January

I'm a Delicate Fucking Flower

Monoi Tiare, gardenias, freesia, and lily of the valley create a lush floral opening, then step back, and the deep rosewood and copal resin comes forward. This is a supremely rich floral that darkens to a woody, resinous finish.

Tested on my birthday! I'm not a huge florals fan, but being a sucker for freesia and copal, decided to give this a try - and I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist! It dried down to a heady jungle of flowers unified by copal and rosewood. I was expecting a more demure, English garden-type scent but this really surprised me with its stronger, more tropical notes.

This is a 4 star perfume for me; love it but it's not exactly 'me'. Planning to get a 10ml, though a dram would be a better option.

Whispering Black

Cedar, a cool stream in a dense forest, a sudden rainstorm, oakmoss, decaying wood.

This description is catnip to my senses; you can imagine somewhere beautiful, cool and desolate. The perfume itself is... odd. In the bottle it smelled subtle and more of a conventional perfume.

On my wrist for - actually, I'm not sure how long - the scent strengthened, and it's much, much better. It makes me think of the river in a storm, with an undertone of earthy forest matter. It's lovely at this stage, but I'm only giving this a 2 star because it's a very subtle perfume (I could barely smell it on my wrist when I first applied it), and takes too long on my skin to get to this lovely sniffworthy stage.

Nightshade

A big glass of whiskey, sandalwood, amber, real ylang ylang.

This was one of three generous freebies included with my order. To be honest, I smelled it in its cute little sample bottle and really thought I'd hate it. This did not smell pretty to me - and then I put it on. Wow. It became a murky, spiky green-smelling kinda scent and despite the bad description, it smelt amazing. The drydown morphed it again, into a slightly haunting but still lively poisonous plant, which... yeah, no kidding, it's literally named after a poisonous plant.

I've had it on for a few hours and the smell isn't as pleasing when it starts to fade, but wow. This is a 5 star from me. Mama needs a 10ml.

(I'm reminded of BPAL's Envy, which is a much brighter, slithery green scent. Nightshade is like the mature older cousin who's seen some stuff and can handle itself).
